The 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of San Francisco ISACA took place on July 14, at our usual large-event locale, the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. As always, what a shindig it was.
Besides the usual order of AGM business – recap of 2009-2010 chapter accomplishments, announcement of election results, outlining goals for the new chapter year, and awards and recognition – attendees were treated with remarks from Jeff Spivey, ITGI Trustee who is from North Carolina, happened to be doing some consulting work for PG&E in San Francisco at the time and decided to join us at the AGM. It was an honor to hear Jeff give us an update on the direction of ISACA International and ITGI and a privilege to have him mingle among the sea of members in attendance.
“You have a good group of people here,” he said.

As previously alluded, there was not a dull moment at the AGM. There never is. Food and beverage were aplenty this year, and raffling of door prizes took fun and twisted turns. In addition to giving away prizes – each winner took home boxed bottles of red and white wines – through traditional drawing tickets, the chapter also gave away the desired prizes to attendees who had the most interesting things to say about the AGM, as judged by chapter leadership. Sure enough, shortly after Sumit Kalra was awarded a prize by the judges for providing an interesting quote, his number was called in the traditional drawing. Kalra walked away from the evening with two boxes of wine.
Kalra was touched by seeing the familiar faces at the AGM and said: “ISACA was where my career was born. I can count five mentors here at the AGM.”

Best of all, the 2010 AGM was an event simply for good times and catching up with network connections.
First Vice President Debra Mallette, left, presents Frederick Trevor with a Certificate of Achievement. Trevor, who earned the third highest CISA exam score in December 2009, was one of many members and attendees who were recognized for their efforts to the chapter and certification and exam accomplishments.
Doug Feil, left, David McKenzie, center, and Todd Weinman enjoy catching up with one another. Feil and Weinman are past chapter presidents and McKenzie is the chapter’s CISA coordinator.
