For over 40 years, Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) and its predecessors have been the U.S. standard for reporting on controls at service organizations. In the post-Sarbanes-Oxley era, SAS 70 has evolved into a de facto global standard. The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) in the United States have developed new standards for reporting on controls at a service organization, with a truly global constituency in mind.

2010 SF ISACA Fall Conference
The 2010 Fall Conference was a great success!
While we anticipated that economic conditions might have an impact on attendance this year (our initial planning number was 200 paid attendees), more than 250 members and guests took advantage of three days of great educational and networking opportunities. Nineteen exhibitor booths at the Tuesday Sponsors Luncheon and at the new Monday Evening Sponsors Reception proved that leading IT Audit, Security and Governance product and service vendors continue to realize value in supporting the profession in the area.
Now in its 10th year, the SF ISACA Fall Conference was once again the premier education event for information systems audit, security, risk, and compliance professionals in Northern California. With our Sponsors support, the cost of the conference provides an outstanding value as a way to keep up with the rapidly evolving regulatory, technology and standards arena, while earning up to 21 CPE’s and (re)connecting with colleagues.
This year’s Fall Conference featured five educational tracks:
Core Competencies: Basic IT audit, security, risk, and compliance skills and concepts designed for professionals in the early part of their career. This track is also ideal for financial/operational professionals that want to expand their knowledge in this area.
Governance & Compliance: The latest information regarding regulatory frameworks and related developments and trends impacting IT audit, security, risk, and compliance professionals intended for professionals at all skill levels.
Professional Techniques: Technical skills and tools for IT auditors, security and risk experts, and compliance managers with intermediate skill levels to enhance your work, knowledge, and to maximize your ability to add value to your organization.
In-Depth Seminars: Full-day sessions that drill deep into a particular topic. Some of these sessions include hands-on demonstrations. Intended for professionals at intermediate to advance skill levels.
NEW! Professional Strategies: Focuses on strategies and skills that make IT audit, security, risk, and compliance professionals at all levels more successful by enhancing their soft-skills, management techniques, and career planning.
The conference planning committee is already hard at work analyzing the conference and session feedback forms and making plans for the 2011 conference. To get involved in making it as big of a success as the 2010 conference, contact volunteer@sfisaca.org.
